Sr. Mohammad Shafie bin Haji Mohammad Yusof
BSc (Hons) (Quantity Surveying), MSc (Construction Management) and is a member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Pertubuhan Ukur Jurutera dan Arkitek, Brunei (PUJA [Brunei]) and a Registered QS with the Board of Architect, Professional Engineer and Quantity Surveyor (BAPEQS) Brunei.
He has vast working experience in the field of quantity surveying, cost engineering and project management both locally and internationally. His international work experience covers assignments in the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Indonesia and India. In the field of Quantity Surveying and Project Management, Shafie is the Managing Director of Utamacon (B) Sdn Bhd.
Shafie is active in the development of young professionals and was a member of the National Programme Advisory Committee for Construction Division Brunei since 1995 and his last appointed position was Chairman. He was also previously an appointed committee member of Programme Advisory Committee for Construction Management Division of Institute Technology Brunei (ITB), and council member of the Brunei Technical and Vocational Education Council (BDTVEC), Brunei. As an active member of Pertubuhan Ukur Jurutera dan Arkitek, Brunei [PUJA(Brunei)], Shafie was in charge of the Technical & Professional Development in 2002 to 2003, Internal Auditor in PUJA (Brunei) and as a Treasurer in the PUJA (Brunei) Surveying Division for the period 2008 to 2009. As a council member of PUJA (Brunei), he held the position of Secretary General from 2010-2013, concurrently as Chairman of Brunei Darussalam National Accreditation Council and at present elected to the position of Vice President of PUJA (Brunei) and Chairman of PUJA (Brunei) (Surveyor Division). Shafie was also an elected committee member for the Discipline and Ethics; and Qualification and Education for the Architect, Professional Engineer and Quantity Surveyor (APEQS), Brunei.
As a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), UK, he held the position of Honorary Secretary in 2006 to 2007 and Honorary Treasurer in 2008 to 2010 with the RICS Brunei Centre. He too has served as a Coach for Brunei Shell Coaching Scheme Initiative (CSI) in developing SMEs companies in Brunei. Shafie was also the Chairman of one of the top private secondary school in Seria. He was also an appointed Board Member of the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB). At present, he holds the position of a committee member of the Board of Housing Developers – Contracts, Committee member of Board of Valuers and Estate Agents (BOVEA) – Act and Regulation, an appointed member of the Board Member of Architects, Professional Engineers and Quantity Surveyors (APEQS) and Chairman of Act and Regulation in BAPEQS.
